AMMAN - In a
unique experience combining idea and technology, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh,
founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital (TAG.GD), took part
in the 7th edition of the “Innovation Dome” conference held under the theme
“The Era of Smart Decision-Making”. His participation was facilitated through an
interactive, program-generated digital twin, which replicates his image and
voice to deliver his keynote address to the attendees; reflecting the
innovative use of technology in conveying knowledge and ideas.
Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh’s digital twin commenced the address by welcoming the
participants, especially the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives,
HE Mr. Mazen Al-Qadi, and the Iraqi guests. In his address, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh
recalled the historical standing of Mesopotamia as one of the world's oldest
cradles of civilization and writing which witnessed the
creation of the earliest accounting records in history inscribed on clay
tablets. He highlighted the enduring connection between knowledge,
documentation, and precision in decision-making.
Moreover, Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized that the value of technology lies not merely in its
ability to process data, but rather in the decisions made based on the
information it generates.
“What is commonly
referred to as artificial intelligence (AI) is, in essence, interactive
programming. Its proper value lies in the decisions we make with its
assistance; whoever possesses the data possesses the decision, and whoever
possesses the decision possesses the future,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated.
He further
pointed to the modernization strategy and initiatives led by His Majesty King
Abdullah II in Jordan, underscoring the importance of keeping pace with
technological transformations through Arab initiatives that establish clear
foundations for AI governance and direct its applications toward serving
societies and economies.
Within this
framework, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced the launch of an initiative to develop an
Arab Artificial Intelligence Governance System, aimed at helping Arab
governments build national frameworks to regulate the use of this technology,
promote its responsible application, and safeguard societal and economic
interests in alignment with global developments.
For his part,
Mr. Khaled Khader, director of the Artificial Intelligence Department at
TAG.GD, tackled the rapid transformations driven by interactive programming
technologies in decision-making processes. He emphasized that the true
challenge is not limited to the systems' capacity to make decisions, but
extends to determining accountability for their outcomes. He stressed the
importance of governance and human accountability principles that have been repeatedly
advocated by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, stating that: “Tasks can be delegated, but
responsibility cannot”.
It is worth
mentioning that the TAG.GD’s participation in the Conference reflects its
strategic commitment to adopting AI technologies to advance communication tools
and knowledge transfer, alongside supporting initiatives that promote
governance.
