‘Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital’ and Jordan Press Association Sign Memorandum of Understanding

    AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital (TAG.GD), and Mr. Tariq Al-Momani, president of Jordan Press Association (JPA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. Consulting, a member of TAG.GD, and the Association. The agreement aims to foster cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, training, and the development of the Association’s technological and knowledge infrastructure to contributing to the advancement of the journalistic work environment in Jordan.

    The MoU establishes a framework for a partnership covering a range of technical and training needs for the Association. This includes advancing the automation project, exploring opportunities for the establishment of a library and a knowledge station, as well as modernizing the Association’s Training Center through the provision of updated software and other technical requirements.

    As per the agreement, the two parties will form a joint team to identify the areas of cooperation, evaluate the proposed projects and set implementation mechanisms. Specific projects will subsequently be agreed upon through detailed agreements, all of which with their terms and execution procedures.

    Moreover, the MoU covers cooperation in training through exchanging expertise and trainers, as well as the implementation of joint programs. Special focus will be placed on AI and technologies related to the journalism, enabling journalists and personnel in the media sector to enhance the professional tools they use, in a landscape where the nature of the news industry is rapidly evolving due to technology.

    During the signing ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that the press serves as an essential partner in delivering credible media messages to various segments of society, underscoring its pivotal role in disseminating information and knowledge in a professional and responsible manner.
    He added that supporting journalists and developing their skills, especially amid the growing use of technology and AI, are fundamental to efforts aimed at strengthening the role of media and elevating journalistic standards.

    Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh further noted that advancing journalistic work is no longer isolated from technological progress, as AI and digital transformation have become integral tools that outline the future of media organizations and their capacity to produce knowledge.

    For his part, Mr. Al-Momani commended the collaboration with TAG.GD in the field of technology and training, especially in light of the ongoing transformations in the media sector and the pressing need to enhance journalists' skills and elevate the readiness of the Association and its institutions to adopt with digital tools. He affirmed that the JPA is working to enhance the media’s role and consolidate its message, while contributing to elevating the profession of journalism and strengthening its role in serving society.
