LONDON – Representing HE Dr. Talal
Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital
(TAG.GD) and chair of the International Arab Society of Certified Accountants
(IASCA), Mr. Salem Al-Ouri, IASCA executive director, is participating in the
annual World Standard Setters Conference (WSS) on behalf of TAG.GD and IASCA.
Organized by the International Financial
Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation, the Conference will be held in London,
United Kingdom, on September 28–29, 2026, bringing together representatives
from more than 70 jurisdictions worldwide.
This participation reaffirms Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s
decades-long contributions and active service on international standard-setting
boards since their inception, supporting global efforts to advance the
accounting and auditing profession.
It also reflects the TAG.GD’s continued
commitment to strengthening cooperation with international organizations responsible
for developing financial reporting and sustainability standards, in line with
evolving global economic developments and efforts to enhance the quality of
financial reporting.
This participation also reflects the vision of
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh of the importance of maintaining an active presence at
specialized international forums, exchanging expertise with standard setters
and international experts, contributing to discussions on priority professional
issues, and keeping abreast of the latest developments in the IFRS Accounting
Standards and the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized that
globally recognized international standards constitute the cornerstone of
enhancing transparency and credibility in financial markets.
By providing high-quality and comparable
financial information, these standards enable investors to make well-informed
decisions, promote the efficient allocation of resources and capital, and
contribute to sustainable economic growth and global financial stability.
It is worth mentioning that the Conference
will cover the latest initiatives of the IFRS Foundation, alongside specialized
panel sessions, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities with IFRS
Foundation officials, members of the International Accounting Standards Board
(IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), as well as
leading standard setters and experts from diverse jurisdictions.
The Conference agenda includes discussions on
a number of strategic topics, including the implementation of IFRS 18, Presentation
and Disclosure in Financial Statements, and IFRS 19, Subsidiaries
without Public Accountability: Disclosures. In addition, the Conference will address the
implementation of sustainability disclosure standards, discussions on
provisions and developments relating to the statement of cash flows, and the
latest updates on the adoption and implementation of IFRS Accounting Standards
and the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
